NHS Avon & Wiltshire: Chatsworth House | 49% Energy Reduction

The Challenge
As part of its sustainability programme, Avon and Wiltshire NHS Trust was looking to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions across its properties. Following the success of an earlier Smartcool pilot at the Trust's Lansdowne House site, Smartcool was invited to carry out a further proof-of-concept study at Chatsworth House.
Our Approach
ECO3™ was installed on two Daikin VRV systems at Chatsworth House. To produce a clear and direct comparison, the technology was run in savings mode for three days and then bypassed for four days in alternating cycles. Device-level energy data was collected wirelessly via Panoramic Power and transmitted in real time to a cloud-based dashboard, giving both parties an accurate and transparent view of performance throughout the trial.
The Results
The pilot delivered an exceptional result. Energy consumption fell by an average of 49% (site dependent) at a rate of 14p/kWh, with projected annual savings of over 6,000 kWh and a return on investment of 25%. The results build on the strong performance already demonstrated at Lansdowne House and further validate the effectiveness of ECO3™ across the NHS estate.
