With their UK facilities management business, CBRE has established an ambitious Science Based Target of reaching Net Zero by 2035. To help them achieve their goals Smartcool was asked to run a pilot project at Three Snowhill in Birmingham.
To demonstrate the effectiveness of our technology, we were asked to run a pilot project at Three Snowhill. We installed Smartcool’s ESM™ on four Trane RTAF 250 HSEN chillers. With device-level, wireless energy monitoring by Panoramic Power by Centrica Business Solutions installed, we ran their chillers with the ESM™’s turned on for one month and off for one month to compare energy usage. Skillfully optimising compressor cycles, the ESM™ improves efficiency without compromising temperature conditions.
The pilot project was very successful with an average reduction in energy consumption of 25% at a rate of 19p/kWh and a savings ratio of 3.28kWh/m2. With a projected annual savings of over 125,000kWh annually and a payback period of 19.3 months we are extremely proud of the results Smartcool and CBRE acheived at Three Snowhill with the ESM™.
