VANCOUVER, BC. Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSX-V: SSC) is very pleased to announce the launch of a Non-Profit Partnership Program (NPPP) by Global Energy Services (GES), one of Smartcool's premier distributors in the state of Florida. Under this innovative new program, the non-profit organization does not incur any upfront costs to install Smartcool's ECO3™ technology and receives 12 month no interest payment terms from GES. The monthly payments are paid by a portion of the money saved on their electric bills while the balance of the savings in the first year and all of the savings in subsequent years can be used to fund services and programs.
GES has already assisted the YMCA of the Suncoast in Clearwater, FL, by installing Smartcool's ECO3™ to increase the energy efficiency of the facility's air conditioning system. GES installed the ECO3™ at the YMCA where Tim Ackerman, VP of Buildings & Grounds, could see immediate energy savings of 10% to 12% of the facilities' overall kWh usage during a trial period that included unusually high temperatures compared to prior years. "As we move forward with our plan to roll out the ECO3™ across our entire association of YMCAs in the Suncoast service area, we are looking at the potential to save in excess of $50,000 per year at 8 locations. In our previous facility upgrades we have looked for a payback in 3 to 4 years, but with Smartcool and GES we are seeing a payback in 12 to 18 months. " says Mr. Ackerman. "The best part about the NPPP from GES is that every dollar we can save on our operations can be invested in strengthening our communities and providing opportunities to develop and nurture youth, improve health and well being, and support our neighbors."
"We are really excited to be able to help the non-profit organizations in our area become more energy efficient," explain Phil and Barb Plastic, Managing Directors of GES. "Our NPPP really provides a 'Gift That Keeps on Giving' to the non-profit organizations we are partnered with as they save money right away on their electric bills and the money they no longer need to spend on electricity can be re-allocated to the valuable programs and services they provide to the community."
Given the positive results of this first NPPP project, the YMCA and GES are moving forward with installations in YMCA facilities across Florida. One of the next installations will take place at the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA in Largo, FL. This particular YMCA is predominantly a government-funded operation serving minority youth who do not pay traditional membership fees; therefore, funding is limited.
"Smartcool felt that a donation of ECO3™ equipment to the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA was a way to assist them in their time of need while demonstrating our corporate commitment to the ideals of the NPPP" declared George Burnes, President & CEO of Smartcool. "Our business is energy efficiency, and in this case we can use the equipment and expertise of our business to help a non-profit organization face the challenges of operating in such a difficult economy."
Chris Lefaivre, VP of Business Development at Smartcool elaborates: "Assisting these non-profits is not only an important act in terms of helping the community, but also in terms of elevating the profile of our energy efficiency equipment through wide-spread exposure in the Florida market. We are confident that GES' plans to expand the NPPP to hundreds of other non-profit organization locations in the region will increase our market share in the region while providing simultaneously a really valuable benefit to the community."
